I apologize in advance for posting another saddle thread but, I've done some research on the net and on the forums here and I can't quite find what I'm looking for. I have the stock saddle on my 07 FXDC which is fine for me, but my ol lady can't ride more than a couple hours without her @$$ hurting and that is keeping me off the bike when we want to travel long distances together. I thought about the Sundowner seat, but from what I understand, it will move me up and foward a bit and I really don't want that. My other two options I was thinking about are either getting the actual HD Touring seat (51472-06) or the stock seat off of a Wide Glide, but I don't know if either one will push me up and foward like the Sundowner . Any suggestions?
Seats are very subjective, and thus recommendations are as well. I had the sundownder on my low, and it was pretty good. Don't really remember it moving forward, up yes, forward no. They have a short version and a tall version IIRC. Wife could ride most of the day, but that was with a stop every hour or so. But, I wanted a backrest option for me, so I got the Mustang wide. I like the backrest, but it didn't help her at all. In fact, the Mustang kind of digs into the back of my thighs a bit and defenitely sits me up higher, but not forward or back.
If you want a great fitting seat for you and her, off the shelf will likely not work. A custom seat, and the price that goes with it, will suit to both your needs.
I've had a Russell Day Long and Corbin in the past on a FJR. The Corbin sucked royally, while the Russell was hienie bliss! Even my wife will attest to that! It cost us about $700, but it was worth every penny! I'm thinking of going the Russell route again this winter. Although a bit ugly, they are super comfy! And if you keep a stocker around, you can easily change seats for good looking short hops, to barkolounger comfy long hauls! That's what I plan on doing with my stocker.
Consider the LePera Sorrento. Great looking 2-up seat, which shouldn't move you forward.
I hear (read) it is very comfortable for the passenger. If you require even more passenger
padding, the LePera Maverick is similar to the Sorrento, but wider in the back.
Me too, but which p-pad did you get, the 8" or 12"? I have the 8" for the wife, but she starts to wiggle after an hour. She REALLY wants me to get the 12" one, but I need a second opinion first...
The Mustang Vintage Solo and matching 12 inch pillion. This is the set up that works for me and my girl. When she rides the pillion is on in about 3 minutes. When she doesn't ride it is on the shelf...

Yeah, that's how I keep her in line. LMAO.
She did love the passenger seat on the sundowner...but it made me cramp so I got rid of it.
I got the 9" I think. #76109. I also have #76107 vintage solo seat.
I thought about the wider p-pad but that was one thing I hated about the sundowner. It was so wide it rubbed on the backrest.
Not a great pic but you can see the p-pad on the bike:
