I've been experimenting with Saddlemen's system, re-engineering it slightly. So far, I've got the bags tucked in tight, and the support is easily removeable when the bags come off. The jury is still out on whether I'm going to continue with this, or blow more bucks on something different.
Can you keep us posted on this? I was looking at the Saddlemen option a few days ago but have not placed the order yet because I was not sure what else was needed and was going to call them this weekend. For now I just ordered a regular bracket for $60.

This is how it looks with the modified Saddlemen mounts. When it comes down to it, I dont think I'm going to get the bags in any closer than what they are now and still retain the quick detach hardware.
the large back pack is one I bought at REI. It has an internal frame so it
holds its shape and can be lashed to the sissybar. The belly band and shoulder
straps are removable so you don't have all that garbage flopping around.

I like the bag. Saw something like that at wal mart today. REI???
thanks guys for the help..i just bought a set of "CRUISER 2 X-LARGE BOX SADDLEBAGS" from a guy a work today couldnt beat the deal 50 bucks for the set and have never been mounted ..now i just got to figure out which support system to use
So did you just use the $99 Saddlemen QD kit and $50 brackets or what parts did you use? I can't quite tell from the pic although I really like the look and closeness of the bags.

KK....that looks pretty darn good but it sounds like you've worked a little harder at it than you should have. I remember you posted about that kit not fitting contrary to Saddlemen stating it did. (Maybe it was someone else posting about it...)
