Gonna do it here anyway
I've been having issues with my idle for some time, seems that the IAC valve keeps wanting to close tighter and tighter until the engine is stalling. I've got a T-Max so it's trying to adjust for something I haven't figured out yet.
Anyway, I got tired of asking myself the question over and over again if it was possible that there was an air leak in the intake or if one of the electronic components wasn't plugged in or mounted properly, so I pulled the throttle body off and did a clean and inspect. Unfortunatey no surprises, looked pretty good aside from a small amount og black gook.
OK, so, getting ready to put it all back together and have heard or read somewhere that I should use Vasoline on the gaskits (new of course) when reassembling.
ANY OTHER ADVICE, other than don't tear apard perfectly good **** just for sport.
THANK YOU,
Tom
I still think it was the goo build-up causeing that in the first place. I hope it's all better for you now that youve hauled it off and gave it a good going over. I would only use grease on a gasket that is awkward and won't otherwise hold in place while trying to mount it and get the bolts started such as that spot between the jugs. Expect a little burning smell and that's about all i have to offer on that.
Other than that, the IAC positioning feedback may be getting lost.. broken wire... bad part... etc.
archergodwin: Yeah, that was one of the first things I tried. I did get some goop out and it even seemed to idel better for a while after that but back to the old tricks after about the third or fourth ride.
The weird thing it that I would have figured goop to close down the IAC port, which should make the T-Max want to open it back up to maintain AFRs??? But, if it's an air leak, closing the IAC down shold have compensated instead of stalling me out? OH, well, at least I had a chance to blow out the injectors, maybe that will help for a while.
Anyway, thanks guys, heading down to the dealer to get some new gaskets / o-rings. Thanks for the responses.
T
