Alright. I hope that I can describe this well enough but... My girlfriend bought me a new Danny Gray solo seat for my 02 Wide Glide and after waiting 6 weeks I finally got it. When I went to remove the stock backrest and the luggage rack I hit a huge snag. The rear allen bolt won't unscrew. The front one is held on with a nut, but the rear ones have an insert in the fender that is spinning. The back of it just looks like a washer so it's been impossible to get a grip on it with anything. Has anyone ran into this problem or know of any way to fix it?
BUMP! Someone has to have some ideas. I have tried JB Weld and an epoxy. They don't even slow it down. This is driving me crazy. Got this great new seat and it looks stupid with the backrest and luggage rack still on there. Thanks.
if it is the zert fitting in the fender you can try to grab the edge of it with small round mouth vice grips or you may have enough room to get a bolt in the back of it tighten with red lock tite and let it sit overnight it might give you enough hold to back out the other bolt. If all else fails you will have to drill the head off the bolt.

Here is an image of the fender seat nut assambly kit p/n 59768-97 (see attachement).
I would put the bike on the lift and remove the rear shocks in order to create enough clearance between the top of the rear tire and the fender to get a firm grip on the thicker part of the seat nut with a pair of pliers.
Thanks for all the help. The pics look like if I can remove the taillight and license plate plastic assembly then I should be able to get a grip on it with some vise grips. Need to get a service manual.
