Default Advice on rack fixing screw please...

Hi y'all. I just treated myself to an early Christmas present for my Bob. It is a Zodiac combined rack and cissy bar/pad to suit the standard (single) seat. (I think) it looks really cool but I haven't fitted it yet, when I do I will post some pictures. The main backrest support bolts through the fender struts with longer bolts and the back fixing for the rack rests over the top hole in the fender. You know, the one that pizzles out muddy water round the 10cent plastic POS plug.
My question is - what is the best type of back fixing to use through this top fender hole? My guess is anything which protrudesinto the fendertoo far is just going to chunk a stripe outta my tyre when my fat a$$ hits the bumps. The mfrs sent a cap screw,a nut and 2 washers WTF!! How far does the MoCo captive nut/thumbscrew thingy poke through and has anyone suffered any tyre damage, or am I worrying about nothing?

Have a nice holiday you guys, while you're all stinking in the pit Stateside I'm at work - but only until 13.00 Hrs - YIPPEEEEEEEEEE!!!

I've used the factory type nut that's held on with a clip on all my racks and seats and have had no probs. Never have checked to see how far the bolts extent into the wheelwell butI don't think you'll have a problem. My fenders sits so low that the edge is below the tire bead and I've had no scraping.

Good Luck

Tom

The factory fender nutis 1/2" thick overall. 1/4"of that isunder the fender. You can cut the screw off if it sticks out below the nut. I wouldn't leave too much, if any, sticking out.
