I just put a Motherwell rack on my Street Bob. I like the looks, and the rack seems to be well made. Two questions though...
1. does the front tab go under or over the tab on the back of the seat?
2. the front tab angle seems a bit off...can I bend it without breaking the chrome plating?
Had to bend one of mine to make it fit right, just protect the chrome with leather or wood so you don't scratch it with the jaws of your vice or vicegrips.
didn't seem to hurt the chrome.
I'd put the rack tab on top of the seat tab if it will mate up comfortably, less chance of scratching your fender. It helps to use an o-ring or cut the end off a piece of fuel line to place next to the fender nut. This will compress down and keep the fender nut from wiggleing after you tighten the rack all the way down.
If you have to install a fender nut, slide it down on a wire tie and thread the wire tie up thru the fender hole, install the c-clip and let the wire tie fall.
I had to bend the tab on mine too, like said, protect it.
I also cut a piece of rubber to place under the front tab, as the Corbin Solo seat doesn't go that far back. The Motherwell rack kinda uses both holes in the fender alone without shareing with seat.
Just protect your fender with something, that's all.
No bending on mine. I had ordered last week and it came already. However when I ordered the women that took my order told me that they were discontinuing the rack. Was just curious why they would be doing that? I think it is a great rack I didnât know if anyone has had one for a while and there was something wrong with them after a while?[/b]
