I have had my bike for 3 weeks now and I need to already take it in for the 1000k maintenance and I am not cool with spending another $300 so soon. I was wondering if I could just do this myself and what it consists of. I have an 06 Dyna Street Bob. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
In the back of you service manual there is a list. I believe you can do it yourself. I took mine to another shop instead of the stealer. They charged me $200 and just signed off in the back of my service manuel. 1000 miles in 3 weeks? wow, you must be riding, then again your probebly single. it took me 3 months, with the kids and all the other s%it going on.
Buy the Service manual from Zanotti's or JP it cost from 48 to 57 bucks but tells you how to do everything on your bike.
It lists all your fluid levels intervals and torque specs.
Save all your receipts from oil filters etc. Mark down mileage on sheet and save with the receipts.

Good Luck,

Thats what I did, it was easy. The first chapter of the service manual is everything you need to know for 1K service. I started a note book to keep track of what I did, how I did it, and when I did it, along w/ receipts just in case of warrenty issues down the road.
That is what I will do as soon as my 1 year of freebies from the dealer is up. I sure wish they had offered me accessories instead cause based on dollar amount I should have about 2000 dollars in parts.
You're right on my schedule. I've had my bob for 3 weeks and just turned 1100 mi. It goes in for service tomorrow. $210 for 1000 mi. service.
I'll be doing the 5000 mi. and so on myself.
I am already over 1000 miles by 5. I think by the time I rode out to North Carolina I would be pushing the 1000k service limits.....lol. I wish I lived there. In California everything costs more. I just need to call around and find a decent price. Harley want 300 plus parts. To much money for an oil change.
