People read my $3400 Sportster thread and see how clean it is and how it only has 4000 miles. Well, I had some parts on Craiglist that we stripped off of this bike and this dude inquires about the seat. We set up a time for him to come look at it and at the end of one of his emails, he says that he has a custom painted set of tins that he won in a raffle some years ago and will probably never use them. We all know that custom paint is either a love or hate thing. I ask him to bring the tins and we'll see if we like them. So he brings them over and wants to trade the blue anniversary tins for these:
The crazy thing about it is that we were discussing a paint change and she already wanted a silver and gray combination. I'll post pics of them on the bike if he decides to go through with it. He was very interested, but we agreed to sleep on it before making a final decision.
Wicked!! Dude, I can't believe you didn't wheel and deal right then and there! Damn man.. thats a sick *** paint set. Jump on it man, ESPECIALLY if the wifey likes it!
Well, it was too good to be true. The deal was agreed upon and he left the custom paint with me this evening and was in no hurry to get the tins off the gf's bike. Anyway, I started with the part that I figured would be the most difficult-the rear fender.....It was difficult all right. It's for a Dyna, but the tank and front fender are for a Sportster. I believe it was an honest mistake. Too bad I ain't building a pre fuel injected Dyna. This paint is sick. He should be back tomorrow to get his tins. I'm just glad I didn't start with the front fender or tank. Needless to say, the ol lady and I are pretty bummed.
