FXDX with mini apes?

Anyone ride an FXDX Sport with mini ape handlebars? I have a '05 and am thinking of trying the black mini apes out. Just curious how much they effect the handling of this nicely balanced bike. Thanks!

Mine's not a sport (though it's not all that different with the suspension mods), but it is an '05. I like the mini apes. They feel a little less sporty/connected than the low bar did, especially at first, but for me the more comfortable riding position was worth it. I like to get pretty aggressive at times, and once you get used to the higher hand position, it's just fine for hard riding.

I just went from apes to drags back to apes on my street bob. The drag bars I had on there handled a bit better in the harder turns, but it wasn't anything dramatic. Up to you though man. Good luck on the decision. I think an FXDX would look pretty strange with apes, but to each his own.

Apes are for styling, not performance. The DX is built to perform, not look like a stereotypical "HOG". Your bike, and if it's what you like, eh, go for it. Just my opinion.

Put a set on 3 weeks after i got the bike(05). Took them off 4 weeks after i got the bike. They just didn't work out for me, i felt i couldn't control the bike nearly as good as with the stock flat bars. Now there's a set on the ol ladys sportster with forward controls and it's one of the most comfortable bikes i've ever rode.

FXDC with fat mini apes.... echo once you get the feel of them, twisties are no big deal. Very comfortable ride.... but may not look right with the lines of a FXDX.... your call.
