It seems like a very easy solution (and without losing function lights). But I'm wondering how it will look on a bike (couldn't find another larger pic of this setup).
i am trying to do this myself, i already have the 01 wide glide tank, but i cant find a wide glide dash anywhere!!!! all i find are soft tail dash kits and they dont fit.
Only thing 'odd' about it is that I used my idiot lights which don't quite line up under the FXDB lenses (just a tad wider ... and incandescent lights vice colored LEDs) ... I colored the lenses using permanent markers of the original colors and the 'offset' of the lights is barely noticeable unless I point it out ....

I haven't seen any Dyna's with a speedometer mounted some place other than the tank or handlebars/risers, but here's a couple of Sportsters with the speedometer mounted below the tank.
I always liked the Super Glide tank console where the Speedometer is up like 2-3 inches and staring right at you and the gas filler is right underneath in the middle of the tank , i love my street bob but i hate how the console is flat , Does anybody have a photo of what I'm talking about ? It is early 90's i know that. I would what to put that on my bike , i think the tank size is like a 1/2 gallon less..
Here's one - my 82 FXRS. This is the way I bought it - PO had swapped a speedo into the fuel gauge spot. Can't find a later pic where I returned it to stock and moved the speedo back to the clamp.
Hey. I am new to this forum and I write from Spain. I have a fxd 2001 and I do exactly the same: Change my gas tank and bought one, which is of 94 softail with dash panel. I will reuse the speedometer of the dyna on the panel, making an adapter ring. But to adapt the tank to the chassis dyna ... I'm going to go really bad, it's hard, I have to make some adapter plates or else cut the straps of the tank and re-welding in the right place.
What was this?, Can you give me a hand?
Thank you all.

I want to mount a Wide Glide tank on a Super Glide. this because I don't like that speedo meter in front of the bike. I want my console in the tank. I have a 2003 Super Glide and I can buy a 2005 Wide Glide gastank with speedo meter. Will this fit?
Or do I have other options to get rid of that "ugly" speedo meter in front. Eg a reversed speedo meter?
I have a 09 super glide I did 3 different mods before I got it right with that speedo problem

I used a night train drag bar, 5 1/2 inch riser with a 1 inch draw back, joker machine upper bar clamp for the instrument lights, sportster chrome speedo mount bracket and a 1-1/4 cab clamp. some grinding is necessary. grind off the speedo mount bracket so that it tucks nicely in-between the risers then drill a hole in the middle of the bracket mount the speedo clamp to either riser I used the left one. line up the hole in the speedo bracket to the cable clamp, wella no tank necessary, this is a lot cheaper than a tank swap and man it looks cool. and functions perfect to the eyes
