I used a night train drag bar, 5 1/2 inch riser with a 1 inch draw back, joker machine upper bar clamp for the instrument lights, sportster chrome speedo mount bracket and a 1-1/4 cab clamp. some grinding is necessary. grind off the speedo mount bracket so that it tucks nicely in-between the risers then drill a hole in the middle of the bracket mount the speedo clamp to either riser I used the left one. line up the hole in the speedo bracket to the cable clamp, wella no tank necessary, this is a lot cheaper than a tank swap and man it looks cool. and functions perfect to the eyes
I also brought a v rod head light visor mounts just like oem you have to paint to match and kuryakin grim reper mirrors and man it changed the whole look of my glide, bad ***
Wonder where that console is from? That would be great if you just wanted to get the speedo off the bars. Wouldn't have to replace the whole tank? Anyone know what model that is from? That would take my project in a whole different direction.
Here's one - my 82 FXRS. This is the way I bought it - PO had swapped a speedo into the fuel gauge spot. Can't find a later pic where I returned it to stock and moved the speedo back to the clamp.

Well Taddeoeg hasn't been on the forum since June of last year so he may not be quick to respond to this 6 year old thread. If you go to ebay they have tons of consoles on there to look through.
I have an 01 FXD (same frame as yours) and I did it. But I think you can only "bolt-on" with no mods until 03. 04-05 the tanks are stretched a bit. It can be done but there is some drilling involved. I also built a little sub harness from the stock FXD harness so everything plugs and plays without butchering the stock harness.
Also took it one step further and bolted on a new 07 front end from a fxdb - giving me the 49mm forks. we had a month of rain here in NY so I had some fun with the wrenches and the soldering iron.
Here's a couple of pics. Let me know if you need any more info.
How hard is it to Do? How long did it take? I have a 2000 superglide and I found a 2002.
