Greg,
Have you got an instruction sheet with the kit? If positive: what is the -J.... number (this enables me to search for it on the www)? If I cannot find it, could you send me pdf copy to add to the ***H-D instruction sheets database***
Looks great with that front wheel. How did the battle with the fork tube caps go?
Surprisingly well. Covered all my tins with towels and put on some safety glasses. I used a socket wrench so I could keep down pressure on the caps at all times. It helped that the big *** socket was heavy as well as my Craftsman wrench. Using the socket also helped to wrestle them back down and hold them down and level until I could get the threads to catch. Then I just tightened them up and I was done.
Of the entire process, the part that gave me the most trouble was reseating the fork oil seals as deep as they needed to go. Basically fashioned a blunt punch and carefully used a hammer and worked my way around to get them in.
Really appreciate all your help and advice with this PK!
Are your rims the factory 10 mag's and you had them chromed out?
Yeh, Skully, they are stock 07 FXD mags that I had chromed. I bought them from a forum member for a couple hundred bucks, sent them off to get them chromed and then sold my stock spokes for exactly what I paid for these rims. Essentially I swapped them out without having my bike down while I waited. I had an offer to do a straight swap with someone else without exchanging money other than cost of shipping. But I would have had to leave my bike up on a lift with no wheels while the rims were being chromed. Ended up taking 6 weeks to get them back but that's another story. I'm very happy with how it all turned out. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions about it.
