Default Quick question about primary cover install

What size torx bit do I need for this. I unfortunately only have a T10 and T15 here at the house. I picked up the wrinkle black finned cover along with a new gasket and I was going to install it yesterday but I didn't realize the bolts were torx head, I was thinking allen head.

Any suggestions on where to pick up some torx bits? I was planning on going to Wally world today to get some krylon wrinkle black paint. Do they have these bits there? Atleast the size I need?

are you talking about the derby cover or primary cover. The derby cover is a T-27. The primary cover is an allen bolt. Please clarify

and one other thing. Your gonna wanna get the torx socket not the wrench. It is way easier to use a socket to get the derby cover off.

Yep, sorry.. I was referring to the derby cover. My apologies. So I need the T-27 socket? Cool.

Thank you.

no problem, I think you can get one at most auto parts stores. or sear. I dont think walmart carries them. Remember get the socket instead of the wrench. Make sure you get the right gasket too. Its a different one than stock

I'm pretty sure I bought a set of torx sockets at Walmart in the Stanley brand. Can't remember if they were 19.99 or 29.99. Pretty decent quality.

Good Luck

Tom

mcurry5,

When I bought the derby cover at the dealership, I asked for the gasket I need for the street bob also. They sold me a gasket with p/n 17369-06. Is this the right one or do I need to order a different one and take this one back?

I am not sure of the part number, but it is not the same as the rubber gasket that is on the stock one. It should be a cardboard type gasket

This one is rubber with 3 o-rings in the package as well. I guess this is not the one I need. Typical.
