Hey, I'm just doin' what the dealer told me - "Take it easy on it for the first 100 miles, then Ride it like you stole it" Rode it home from the dealers (660 miles) so we were both broken in real soon.
If a Wide Glide was a woman, she'd be a tall, leggy blonde with a cute ***. The bobtail fender is the motorcycle's equivalent of a mini-skirt. Just up high enough to get a glimpse of their behind.
'04 Wide Glide here. No current pic but will get one in a day or two. I have always loved Wide Glides so naturally when it came time to buy, that's what I bought. Actually sat on a softy but they are too small (length). I'm 6'2" and mostly legs so even my WG is a bit short for me. Considered a bagger, but would hate to commute everyday on something that big. My WG is a blast to ride and I've put about 11,000 miles on it since last July. Just got back from a 320 mile run up into the Texas Hill country and loved every minute of it.
Dont know how I missed this thread.....but count me in as a WG fan. In my opinion the best all around bike the company makes, especially for a taller rider. The Wide Glides "may" be going away, but its OK with me, 'cause I am keeping mine until the day I die. Of course I have a 03 XL1200C I am prolly holding onto as well...
I bought my WG last May and have 5100 miles so far. I bought mine for 2 reasons. 1st it fit me better than any other bike I tried, I'm 6'1" and 300 lbs. 2nd it looks old school. I guess there was one more deciding factor, I got a unique color, Jake and Elwood Blues. Kind of a stupid name but I like the color, 2 tone blue with pin striping and the Harley-Davidson on the tank is in gold. Makes it stand out from the crowd.
Count me in in. As some other FXDWG owners have posted, it is amazing how well the Wide Glide handles considering the 21" tire and rake. I can't image what the WG would look like without the bobtail fender.
Sorry about having to link to pic, I have given up trying to do the signature picture. I have added many accessories since this pic and will update when my tech savy son is home from college next time.
Hi Guys
I'm a newbee here. Started riding HDs since 1957, a 55 KHK. Ijust bought my 1st Wideglide,an 03 black and silverAnn model, which belonged to a former dealer's wife.I knowit's pretty welll cared for. I will be restoring it witheverything that was avaible at that time, with the exception of Corbin tour seat,HD mufflers with slash cut and a 1 in drop front and rear to make it a little easier for my wife to ride. I have a motive you'll see more later.
