I would like to see the Wide Glide have a chrome model too, like they do with the Rocker. For some reason the smaller fat front wheel doesn't do it for me on the FB... But that is why they make vanilla and chocolate! Never rode a FB, but after spending 6 months on only my 08 FLHR, he first thing I noticed when I got on my beloved WG the other night in Florida was the front brake, the twin discs are better, a lot better.
I purchased a new 2010 Wide Glide on Aug 14th and now have almost 1700 miles on it. I installed Khrome Werks slip on mufflers for a nice deep sound. I also replaced the stock pegs with HD pegs with heel rests. I installed the quick release low profile shield and a quick release sissy bar with luggage rack. I know there are many mixed opinions on the new style but when I saw it I had to have it. I am very pleased with my Wide Glide and have had alot of compliments on it.
The front sigs are relocated to just under the top tree on the fork tubes, which have been slid up the trees 1". The internally wired 1" bars, from a Low Rider, are on 6" pull back risers. The brake line is from a Road King, the clutch & throttle cables are from a Street Bob.
The space under the rear fender is just right for the stock 180mm on 1.75" lowering blocks. I've got 10,000+ miles on the first two rear tires... so I'm stickin' with em.
I didn't like the FatBob when it came out...Didn't like the fat front tire and the dual headlights. So, in 2008 I went with the Rocker C instead. Now, when I saw the Wide Glide I had to have it, so went that route. The only thing I don't like about it is the back fender, so a FatBob rear fender will eventually end up on it. Just not willing to spend $189 at the dealer for it!
Agreed. That style rear fender with the shape that mimics the tire, only looks good if you slam the bike down to having no rear suspension travel.
Stock it kinda reminds me of those old cartoons where the characters baseball cap would get blown up off of his head when he was scared.
The Fat Bob's rear fender looks much better with stock, or higher, suspension height.
I think the new Wide Bob has nothing to do with what a Wide Glide should look like. The rear fender is ugly as hell. The MoCo took one of the coolest looking bikes ever made, and turned it into something ugly.
