Well for me personally I do own a Street Bob, but the price difference to get into a softail wouldn't phase me one bit. The extra couple grand would hurt my budget, I just went with a dyna cuz i felt it was something different that I havent rode or built up before. The softail would have been kinda on the same lines of what I was coming out of already, both bikes the dyna and softail equally WOW me when done up or left stock.
Like others said, supply & demand. Most women love the softail, less vibration Me I wanted the handling of the Sportster but not the small bike that the Sportster is so I went Super Glide.
The older chromed out dynas cost about the same. Now with all the blacked out dynas, they're cheaper. Most softails still do the chrome thing (except for the crossbones).
demand! Rubs ride softail... need to impress others with the most popular model etc... IMHO the softail is way overpriced ... people will pay it though.
It's like my Tag watch .... is there really that much more to a Rolex that demands the 300+% price difference... Not at all.
I agree thats why I when back to my timex and sold my tag, they both tell time the same way:lol:
Where did you pick up that thought? You been visiting the softail forums again? Show stats that suggest that.
This is actually what I have been seeing as well. When I look at places that are selling both, I find that the softail customs are higher mileage as opposed to say the sg customs (or even WG's and Low Riders)....same years etc...and still the price is usually a grand or so higher. Just can't seem to figure what it is that makes these bikes worth that much more.
