54 bucks for a freakin parking ticket...Jeeesus. Even if that is Canadian funny money, it's still about $50 US. The nearest town I have to pay the meter in is Athens, Ga and if you don't the fine is only $3.
I believe I'd be getting the hell outta Dodge, or Quebec for that matter.
Ontario is just as bad or worse I'm kinda friggin stuck. We all complain but we can never get anywhere,we vote them in and they do us in. I wrote a letter to the DOT complaining that we pay exorbitant prices for our license plate (519$ for cruisers, and it's going up next year) and we have a winter tire law " No vehicles from DEC 15 to MRCH 15 without winter tires" plus we ain't allowed to put the bike into storage and claim a credit for those months. They responded with " thank you for your comments." There were multiple demonstrations for example 1500 bikes riding 30 mph on the highway all afternoon. The police provided escorts ya think the gov. cares? They were unaffected except all the extra gas burned put money in their pockets.
This thread has me thinking about riding Canada,Before I retired I drove big trucks for C.F.I. and logged countless miles across Canada and loved it. Never met a person I did not like and got to see some really beautiful country up there. Can't wait to explore it on 2 wheels, thanks for the heads up on loud pipes.I got em too. Where else but Canada can you order cheese curds and gravy on your french fries at Mc Donalds? God i miss Tim Hortons coffee !

Wow man beautiful bike. Don't worry I went most of the summer without gettin nailed, was just in a ritzy area and the guy was probably trying to set the example for the young female cop who was processing the tickets in the car. If your ever up this way gimme a hollar and we'll log some miles. I know most of the nicest roads around montreal and finding more all the time!
There is some "mythology" with bald tires. The truth is, on dry pavement, a bald tire (also known as a "Slick), provides the most traction. More rubber on the road = better traction. That's why so many types of race cars run on slicks.
The problem comes in when there is water, sand, gravel or other debris on the road. It is in these conditions where the tread in your tires works to channel the water or debris out from under the tire to allow better traction.
In our town...COPS and Harley owners have a special relationship...specially over pipes, you have to be very crafty with the trottle when you are around them
Same around here, as long as I'm not going heavy on the throttle and act polite about the whole thing, cops don't give you a second look. I've had several officers compliment me on the sound of my bike, once by a very bored looking officer at a sobriety check point...

This is so true it hurts, having friends in low places is the best thing in the world.
