so who here is dropping theretrans fluid along with the primary oil at 10k.I just think for 20k on trans oil I will be dropping it along with primay at 10k.That seems like alot of miles on primary fluid considering how metal shavings would be in primary at 5k on the past bikes?
06dynablack... I'm changing mine soon I don't care what HD recommends... The breakin' of the trans will generate metal crap.. I've changed my oil twice already...before my 1K service Cheap insurance...
Hey JamieWG... That message was the one your talking about..I'm (Skeeter5) on the other forum site.. Ya.. we talked about that way back.... The pic's I posted here was those pic's.... I remember the discussion...Thought this could be a sticky message and placed in the tech forum... The filter wrench works good... But, I still make a mess with the oil....LOL
Hey Skeeter,
Yeah, it's been a long time. I wonder how many guys drained the tranny by accident because of that stupid owner's manual mistake? After I talked to the moco, I thought they would send out a flyer or something to everyone who had bought an '06 Dyna, but they never did. Looks like it took them about 5 months to correct the manual. The warranty rep couldn't believe no one had noticed it when I called. I asked him if that meant I would get something for free, but he just laughed at me.
My owners manual I think shows the correct location, on page 102 it shows the horizontal kickstand side plug for the oil, and on page 107 it shos the vertical exhaust side for the tranny. maybe the MOCO caught it and fixed some of the manuals. I have an '06 superglide custom that I bought in Mar '06. Its been awhile, I used to have a 1985 XLS Roadster, I was not used to the tranny and engine oil being on the same sump/pan location on the big twins.
Hey back too ya..Jamie... Sure been awhile, I remember the posts.. Typical MOCO Bull Crap... It's really makes ya wonder who does their proofreading...Should of at least gave ya a mention somewhere and a thanks... Between that and the letter on the bearing replacement everybody was getting a little excited.. then the injectors change out discussion began....
If I remember correctly you basically said friggit and did what you wanted to do on your bike... By the way it's lookin' great....You had a better info layout on the oil change error... the pic's were in your message... I'm all thumbs on the computer, I couldn't get the pic's to launch, so peeps have to open them, some may not be able to open the pic tags in my message, so the message may not get to those who need the info... even just the service manual pic would be great, then that pic could be referenced to everybodys owner manual.
CONGRATS ON FINDING THE ERROR...Good hearing from ya.. Take er easy..CYA..Skeeter
