Rear Brake Pad Disintergrates
Hi All,
Just been for a blast on the bike , hit the rear brake about 5 miles into my ride and something went - back brake pedal fely really soft.
Not sure what it was so nipped into a friends workshop , the pad had completely sheared off from the backing plate.
He says it getting quite common and he's surprised that HD havent addressed the problem yet before someone gets killed.
Anyway £50 later i have upgraded pads on it now.
Check your pads guys.

yeah I have seen brake linings let go on all kinds of things in my 20 year automotive career. It is just one of those things that will always happen. Riveted linings tend to be a bit better but they sometimes develop these "fault lines" and they will break off too. Bonded linings are the worst, which is what we got.
