PCV with modded ECU
Hi Everyone,
I recently installed the PCV onto my fatbob which already had the SE map on it. What I mean is that I first did the SE stage one, (mufflers, airintake, remap) and then made a few more changes and decided to add the PCV to best put these changes all together.
The bike is running great, but it seems to me like the bike is running rich.
I contacted Fuel moto about it, and they told me that there is no way for the PCV to take into consideration the non stock ecu (if you look at the maps, they all say stock ecu)
My question is, other than taking the bike to the dealer, and asking them to reflash the original program, what can I do? and if I do take it to get reflashed, how will that affect my bike?
If it makes any difference, here are my mods,
se air intake
se exhaust
SERT map
Andrews 27 cams
Andrews 30t pulley
retrofitted PCV
I have an issue with the dealer and would rather try to avoid them at the moment. I recently switched to an indy since the dealer was refusing to make some of the mods I asked for (insisting I pay more for I what I don't want) but it seems like I might be stuck with them on certain things.
Anyway, any help will be greatly appreciated,
Lou

the pcV doesn't use the HD map.that is what the 02 sensor eliminators are for. Once those are installed with the pcV the fuel commands all come from there. If you remove the pcV kit the HD flash takes over again. It doesn't go away. You could ask fuel moto for a fuel economy map. Dynojet has maps that are leaner on their site. But run it as is for a couple tanks and chech the plugs.
I thought the PCV did not eliminate the O2 sensors (unless you wanted it to) and the PCV worked by biasing the internal ECU MAP. Different ECU internal map, different PCV map. So you need to have the PCV programed based on what map is in the bike, fuel moto should be able to give you a PCV map that assumes the ECU has SE download...
Or maybe the O2 sensors are eliminated but the PCV still sends simulated O2 signals to the ECU for some control purpose. In either case the results would be different depending on the map in the ECU... but I dunno.

oh no...PC-v use no O2 sensors at all, when you first install it with our without Autotune you disconnect the original O2 sensors..
therefore completely bypassing the stock ECM. AutoTune acts as an EFI, and GEar ratio adjuster so you can further adjust how, and when your PCV will change its A/F ratio. and to either engage or eliminate its throttle peak issues. (if that makes any sense)
With both PC-v and Autotune, the variations are endless. If you"re stumped, contact DynoJet the maker of PC-v, Read their site, or heck give em a call.
They may tell you how to make onboard adjustments. using your Laptop, and the installed PC-V computer program.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'm sorry i didnt answer earlier, but I've been away.
But I'm not sure what I've read since it seems there are 2 different things being said...
1) the pcv bypasses the ECU so it really doesn't matter what map was in there to begin with
2) it doesn't bypass the ecu so there are multiple corrections happening.
The only thing I can do I guess is go back to the dealer and have them flash me the original map on the SERT and that should do it right? or should I just not do anything because I'm happy with the power I'm getting from the bike?
Thanks again,
Lou
