Default Thunderhead vs. Fat Cat

This could start an argument… I just want you all to know I am aware of it before I even post the question…

So you guys on here have talked me into the need to go with a 2 into 1 pipe over my beloved 2 in 1. So know I am trying to sort out the best one for my application. Right now I am going stage 1 with a TTS master tune (and maybe cams). By the end of next year Ill be most likely upgrading to a 124”.

I am strongly considering either the thunderheader or the D&D fatcats. Any ideas as to which one would be better for what I am looking at doing? Is there a big difference in sound between them? Am I an A$$ hole for asking this question?

Thank you for all of your help so far guys!

I would think that for the 124 you should check into D&D Boarzilla, the regular fatcat might be a little restrictive for that size motor. I have no experience with the thunderheader but did check them out before deciding on D&D.

BTW Not a ******* question at all, thats what the forum is for, we debate, discuss, never argue hehe. You might want to try the search function though, there is a lot of info on this subject from those much more knowledgeable than me.

My A$$hole reasoning tells me you won't be building the engine yourself if you need to know what exhaust to buy, so ask your favorite engine builder! Of course there's lots of guys here who can answer your question, and they'll be along any time now! good luck! 124" wow you'll need something to keep that bike from lifting clean off the ground!

Are looks important to you?

I'm thinking the two pipes you mentioned will be similar in power, and both sound great with bigger displacement. I've seen a few Thunderheaders with discoloration issues.

I love my TH....but the quality of the chrome sucks donkey a$$. The Fat cat will give you ~ the same performance with a much better quality finish. Plus I like the FC too. May be my next pipe. My TH is not even 6mos old and it's rusting where the two headers come into the collector very much badly.

Actually I will probably do the cams myself. The whole 124” kit… probably not. I have been riding metrics for the last 10 years, so I am new to the whole HD thing. I never had this many choices with my VTX…
I am coming to the realization that what ever pipe I use for my stock motor will not work well with a 124 build. So it looks like Ill be buying another pipe next winter…

Some guys swear by the TH, others DD. Just trying to sort of the general consensus (if there is one).

Oh yea, I did search earlier. And there was actually a question much like this one, but I was curious about the ability to use the same pipe for both motors.

PS I love these forums!

+1 on the D&D Fatcat. Performance, quality and sound.

Buy a boarzilla so you only have to buy 1 pipe. It's a no brainer to me. Why buy one now and another one later???????
