I recently added a stage I air intake to Dyna. An EFI system is an internal looped system. Unless you replace your entire exhaust (basically removing the O2 Sensors); then you would need to "re-map" your ECM.
When I added my Stage I air intake. I did not "re-map." I simply started the bike after installation, let it idle, then proceeded to go on a short ride to allow the ECM to recalibrate to the increased air.
Not only was I told this by the mechanic at my dealership; I also read it on the site that sells Xied (Nightrider.com).
I plan on investing is something next year. Just figured I'd try this download cartridge since I have it. I just am not sure where to put it and was hoping someone knew and could tell me. The one time cartridge looks like this.
Isn't that an 8-Track Cartridge? I haven't seen one in 30 years.

If I understand that correctly that is for 07 and newer only. I have a 2004.
The tech hooks up the cartridge to their scanner the connects the other end of the scanner to your data port ( I think) then flashes your ecm. I watched a tech do it to my 2004 FLHTI. If the tech doesn't hit a certain button at the end you can reuse the cartridge. Once that button is pressed the data on the cartridge is wiped clean. I have the cartridge sitting in my garage.
I just did the Stage 1 kit with V & H exhaust, SE Air intake (a K/N filter), and a "downloader". I now own that downloader, which only works with the VIN of that bike.
It should be used when any mods are done to the bike via the eecm.

Is the "downloader" your talking about similar to what I showed in the previous posts picture? If so how did you download the information?
I called all my local dealers.. $150 for them to do the download.. they won't use my cartridge... $150 is half the price of a SERT on ebay so I think I'll just wait and go that route.
