Does anyone know how to do a download yourself? I bought the cartrige on eBay and just found a stage one air intake as well. I plan on going with a Power Commander or something similar but that will have to wait until next season. I figured I could get the intake and download done and enjoy the rest of this indian summer.
when you take your bike to the dealer to get a stage one download on the fuel injected bikes, they have a one time use cartridge that they plug into your bike to download the new injector mapping. I bought the cartridge on ebay and I'm not sure of the process to download the mapping.
Is your cartridge a SERT? What does it say on the label?
I don't believe the dealer uses a cartridge to do a factory download, they use their ECU/scanner/programmer tool. I think you can only buy the download itself from a dealer, it is not offered separately.
If you want the dealer to tune the bike, they will use a adapter/cartridge that marries itself to the ECU serial number. Its not one time use, but it can only be used on that specific SN ECU. I dunno maybe its done differently on a 2004.

no what ya mean is a stg 1 down load. the dealers used to get the edown loads in cartridages a few yrs back . it was a use once down load. stay away from them as you do not know if it was used or not.
invest in a TTS it has a stg 1 there and it is far superior then the older stg 1.
I plan on investing is something next year. Just figured I'd try this download cartridge since I have it. I just am not sure where to put it and was hoping someone knew and could tell me. The one time cartridge looks like this.
