My next mod is new shocks. I had decided on Ohlins, but I recently was introduced to Works Trackers. They seem to me to be roughly equal in performance and cost. For those that may know, do you think that is the case?
If they are equal, I like the Works Trackers because they have more options for finish types.
Ohlins provides suspension to every major racing team and manufacturer in every series in the world even Honda which owns their own suspension Co. Showa. There is no better suspension product produced in the world.
Ohlins are supposed to be better. An iridium spark plug is supposed to be better. Will you notice the difference. Hard to say. The good news is you can get chrome Ohlins from Howard at motorcyclemetal.com. You have more options for style from works. Works cost less. I like works options from a visual standpoint. I often wonder if I would notice the difference with a works shock vs my Ohlins. I wish my Ohlins looked as good as the works shocks. I do absolutely love the way my Ohlins ride and improve handling.

I've reached the point some others have here on HDF, of realising that shocks that look good do not seem to perform very well. The chrome Ohlins are a basic model without the technical refinements of their high-end less attractive models. So it seems we can either have looks, or a great ride! You've made a quality choice, as have I, although I am buying mine for a dresser, so they will be out of sight.
I hear that Ricor is soon to release a super high-tech Dyna rear shock setup. Penske also has a fine shock. Works are nice, but not the same quality as an Ohlins or Penske, or what Ricor can produce. I run Ohlins on my vintage MX bikes, and they are SUPURB.

what do looks have to do with the quality of the shock? Works are very good shocks. They have a great reputation as such. Thing I have found is that both the works and the Ohlin owners seem to be just as happy with the improvement of putting either shocks on their bike over stock or progressives. I would like to ride some works set up for me to see if i can notice a difference between the two. To me the problem with my Ohlins is that they would look awesome on my bike if the adjustment collars and the top and bottom caps were black anodized. Also it wouldn't hurt if the shock bodies actually matched each other as well. I don't think they would perform any different this way.
