can anyone tell me what thread size/gauge the bolt is that would be used to bolt on forward controls/highway peg to the frame (07 fxd). the reason i ask is once i removed the plastic push pins from the whole the threads were pretty rusted and i just would like to clean them up with a tap before i try to run a bolt through them. (i do not a said bolt yet... im making some highway peg outta lay around materials) thanks for any and all help.

 

Just shoot some penetrating lubricant such as P'Blaster or Liquid Wrench on the threads, let the penetrating lubricant set for about 30 minutes, brush with small wire brush or tootbrush, and then gently run the bolt through.

 

I want to say that they are 3/8 by 1" long. The tap I used on mine says 3/8-16H3 on it.

 

thanks ghost rider. all i have to do know is find a tap that size. so far i havent spent anything on my highway peg little project here. kinda wanted to see if i could make em using what i have.
