Why do you care what biased opinions others may have? Most everyone likes what THEY ride best. Neither bike would have been a losing deal. As for engine issues, Harley seems to under-engineer things anyways. I've spent a small fortune correcting the b.s. Harley thought "should work fine". You'll find that problem no matter what year, engine choice you make.
Stop over-analyzing, pull the trigger and get out there and ride!
HarleypsychRN, we are definitely over 40. LOL We got started late on our family! I have considered the touring line but don't find much in my price range. Most that are have a lot of miles on them. I sure wouldn't mind trying a Road King out though. Might have to be an Evo to fit the budget but not totally opposed to that.
Not E'nuff Harley, I like your attitude! We're in the middle of a cold front that brought snow to Texas so I'm waiting for that to pass then I will go check out that 05 SG once more. I think I could get the owner down below $7k as he seems to be pretty motivated from what I can tell. I guess I need to find out what it would cost to replace the valve guides if I were to run into that problem. You have any experience with that? Need to figure up what some add ons would run to get it more two up friendly...seat being first on the list!
