Default Need some input....superglide vs low rider

After riding for about 23 years, I have been looking around for my first Harley. I have pretty much decided on a Dyna as they can meet my budget needs. I have found a 2000 Low Rider with 11k miles and a 2005 Superglide with 7500 miles. The Low Rider has a Sundowner seat with tall sissy bar, HD saddle bags, windshield and lots of chrome add ons, lace wheels and a Mikuni carb. The Superglide has a windshield, sissy bar and luggage rack, lace wheels...pretty much bone stock..oh, and it's fuel injected. Asking price on both of these bikes is $7000.

Curious as to what those in the know can tell me about this decision. Would either of these bikes have a nose over the other for any two up riding? Our son is in college now and my wife and I have the time and desire to do some two up riding. Nothing too long distance right now...day rides for breakfast or lunch probably. Wife has not done a lot of riding at this point so not sure how she will take to it but has a lot of interest in it right now and I would really enjoy having her along. Realize I would have to do something about the seat on the 05 as it is stock if I remember. Solo, I will want to cover longer distances probably.

Have not owned a carbed bike since the 2000 Sporty I owned for a while...got me hooked on Harleys actually. So, I'm partial to the fuel injection I guess. Guess the thing holding me back on the superglide is it's pretty plain jane....any pics of spruced up superglides would be appreciated as well!

Thanks!

Take the newer ride with lower miles. Not much diff between the two as far as specs go.

I'd go with the 2000 LR. Better crank, has Timken bearing= stronger/better bottom-end set-up in case you ever decide to go to a 95" top end. Has a carb so it is easy to work on. Looks better with a little more rake in the frame, extra chrome add-ons & black engine/tranny . No worries on the '05s notorious leaking valve seals. 11K miles is barely broken in. Cheaper to insure since it's a little older. $7000 is a steal.

I don't think you can lose either way but I prefer the look of the black engine on the Low Rider. The extra chrome and the extra front rake make it just about my top dyna choice (other than the "old style" Wide Glide). By the time you would trick out the super to make it look like a low rider you will have spent a good deal extra. The mileage per year on each is good....just enough to keep them going without beating the crap out of them or having them sit too long.

Just my opinion of course.

The Low is well set up for how you want to ride bags, shield etc. The fact the low has a carb should not hold you back on it.
