I'd go with the newer bike however the lowrider has the black motor and tank gauges. Some of the newer glide models have them as well but my '06 don't. Only regret is the tank gauges. But that 2000 Lowrider looks good!
A friend just bought an '08 superglide with 96 engine, windshield, detachable backrest, couple helmets and 2,400 miles for $8,000. Super deal!
IMO you'd be crazy not to go for the LR. Already has the fwd controls, decent looking pipes, dual front brakes.Personally I really like having a tach too, it is a really good tool to know what RPMs you're shifting at instead of thinking you know what your bike likes.
You put that stock seat on & take the sissy bar pad off except for when the Mrs. wants to go along & you got a sweet lookin' scoot.
I bought the Sundowner for my wife which she really like, I on the other hand don't care for it because the other seat I use is lower & sits me farther back. I always thought the LR stock seat was pretty darn good. I bought a seat from Harley seat.com because I wanted a different style.
Thanks for the latest replies guys! I think right now the LR is the one...I just really like the blacked out motor with chrome and the accessories that come with it, although not that tall sissy bar, LOL.
Today I noticed a 2004 LR on Craigs I hadn't noticed before. Have email in to the guy to get some larger pics. Azgunner, any known issues on the 04 models like those leaky valve guides on the 05? This 04 looks pretty clean but not nearly as dressed out or with as many add ons. Kinda hard to see for sure in the small CL pics. Did the 04's come with carb or FI? Can't tell if I see a choke in the pics are not. Asking price on the 04 is 8k but owner says make him an offer so obviously willing to negotiate on that. Like to see what the pics look like on it before making a decision to go see it in person to get a comparison. Color on it appears to be smokey gold with black inserts.
I'll keep you all posted. Really appreciate the input guys!
Well, men, the LR sold two days ago! Starting over I guess. Not sure that the 05 is the one..at least not THIS 05. Have not heard anything on the 04 LR. It looks nice on Craigs. Need some larger pics though. At least everyone got me thinking in the right direction. I think LR is the way I want to go. Pretty bummed right now but I know there is something out there somewhere with my name on it!
You're right danktat...little problem of mine. Just having a hard time deciding on what model I want. That and there are a lot of good buys out there right now. But you are correct...something will come along. Maybe I should go back and look at that 05 Superglide....
If you guys are gonna ride two up and you're over 40 (you said you have a son in college) between the two the Low Rider is a nicer bike hands down. Carbs are bullet-proof so that's a non-issue...BUT DON'T RULE OUT a touring model. Dynas are great solo bikes but two up for 45+ crowd...is pushing it unless you're two skinny in shape people. Wife and I went through this with our 2000 Low Ride (which I still have as a solo bike) her leg would cramp up everytime on mid-to-long rides...she was uncomfortable. Bought the Road King and problem solved and it's a much smoother ride...not the kick the dyna is but your 45 year old back & a** will thank you! Just something to consider...
