Default Street Bob Forward Controls for 5'-3" Gal?

I recently purchased a '06 Dyna Street Bob for my wife. She's 5' 3" tall. She's used to riding a Honda Shadow with forward controls. The Dyna is bigger and longer. She didn't like the mid controls so I ordered a set of forward controls. They haven't arrived yet.

Since then seen several photos of Street Bob's with forward controls and they look like they will be too far forward for her (based on her sticking her feet forward on the bike and checking where the photos show the peg location would be).

Fist question. Does anyone have any experience with forward controls and someone of that height? Second question. Is there any flexibility in the position of the forward controls, or are they in a fixed location, take it or leave it? I'd hate to go to the trouble of putting them on and then finding out they're too far forward for her. Don't know anyone around here with a Street Bob and forward controls to try it out. Any input would be welcomed. Thanks, Andre

there fixed unless you modify them yourself.. if she has trouble reaching you can get the "reach seat" from harley that moves the rider forward... dont judge by mine, there 3 inch extended lol

Thanks for the quick reply. That answers one of the two questions. Thanks again.

Don't want to bring you down, but at 5'3" it's gonna be difficult for her to comfortably reach the forwards. A reach seat might help but still be a stretch to get there unless her legs are unusually long for somehone her height. I've got a buddy about 5'6" and it's all he can do to keep his feet comfortably on his highway pegs on his lowrider. He would like forwards and when I swapped mine out for extended forwards, I offered for him to mount and try out my old set on his bike. He felt like they were just a little too far for him to be comfortable with it. He could reach them but it just didn't feel right to him.

Adjustable highway pegs might be the best route for her. HD sells them and they really aren't that adjustable. Basically 2 positions I think - standard or you can move them back a little just by using different mounting holes or turning them over or something like that. She may even find she needs the adjustable highway pegs and something like the reach seat to be where she needs to be.

Check out this thread. These are HD floorboards and it appears that based on this guy's opinion they bring the foot position in closer. They seem like they might be somewhere between forwards and mid. FWIW

I am a short guy and I have forward controls. I also have a C&C seat that moves me forward 1 ˝ “. However, it’s really about your inseam. Women usually have longer legs than men. I have a 28” inseam and my setup is working great.
Heck you have them on order so it’s worth a try.

5"8' had forward controls on a Sportster with a Lepera seat that moved me forward no problem with reach. On a Bob with stock seat, my feet touched the forward controls but I was not comfortable, so bought one with mids. A little crunched, but more comfortable than reaching for forwards.

I like the footboard idea and think that is my next mod. On a long trip these mids would not be comfortable.

I'm 5-5 and with with the lapera seat instead. It will move her closer then the harley seat. I can rest my heals on top of the pegs going down the road. I also have heard of people modifing the controls to move them back, thought it was a thread on here. Might want to check it out
