Default Finally Got My Bike Out

So after having my bike in storage for quite some time (8 months), I finally got her running again. It took quite a few man hours but she sounds and feels great. I neglected to put fuel preservative in the tank so ended up draining and cleaning the tank myself. That process was its own experience. Lets just say there was a lot of fuel I had to clean up. I also did an oil change and a transmission flush. I had to replace the rear tire so I also got to experience the pain for getting the rear axle rod off my bike. It was worth it though because she definitely needed to be cleaned out. I ended up putting a new battery in there because the old one had no charge. After I put it all back together she didn't want to start. So I hooked the bike up to an adjustable power supply and charged the battery. She started up after what seemed to be more of a cough. After letting her run for a little bit I shut her off. After being off for an hour I went to take the bike out and she started it up fine. I rode for abour an hour and didn't find any problems. Is there anything I should do to ensure there's no future problems?

Consider a Battery Tender to help maintain the charge in your battery.

Give her a kiss. Cook her a nice dinner. Hug her often. Put roses in her spokes. Write her poetry. Kneel beside her and tell her how much you love her. Massage her lower forks. Bathe her with love. Whisper sweet nothings to her. Take her dancing. Take her to dinner.

I forgot to mention that I did check the tire pressure. But I did have a problem though. After letting her sit over night, I went to start the bike this morning and it didn't start. She turned over but did not start. Anyone have any suggestions of where to go from here? The battery is new and I had it checked and charged before I put it in two days ago.

I hate to ask a dumb question, but who puts their bike in storage in April and takes it out in December? Isnt it usually the opposite?

How long did you let it run for when you started it back up? Did the carb get a good chance to really get flushed out and did you put any additive in the new fuel like seafoam or anything?

I was deployed to Afghanistan that's why. I let it run for about 30 min. I flush all the fuel and oil before but I didn't put any additive in it. It fuel injected so there's no carb to flush. I also took it out for an hour ride after letting it run for those 30 minutes and shut it off. It started fine when I went to ride it yesterday but it didn't start this morning.

You said it didn't start. Did it crank and not start or did it not crank at all?
Check your plugs. Better yet, just replace them.
