Hmm, I wonder what they teach you to do when the peg bolt breaks and you go down off that side of the bike?

I guess maybe the key is "slightly" and not completely stand up. Even with forwards, I can shift my weight enough to not feel the brunt of a big bump or hole but you do have to be careful that when you pull on the bars, you don't twist the throttle but after my childhood experience and then seeing that peg mount bolt break so easily, I'm not sure I'll ever try to actually stand up on footpegs ever again.

You're not supposed to stand up. As per MSF, when you see the bump, etc - you roll on the throttle a little and raise your *** up in the seat a bit. Standing up on the pegs makes the center of gravity way too high for safety.
