I havent even looked at this thread until today because I knew that it would be caked full of so much BS, but I gave in. Im going to explain which dyna is the best handling based on my personal experience of riding each of the bikes. Just to get it clear Im not trying to bust anyones ***** or degrade anyones babies, Im just giving my opinion of the best handling dyna with some information to support it. First off, I highly doubt that many of the people that read or even post on this forum ride their bikes anywhere close to its fullest capabilities, so to the riders that fall into this category all of the dynas will handle relatively the same to you. Personally I have ridden the 3 main dyna models numerous times and they were all relatively the same year. (super glide, wide glide, and the fat bob). Keep in mind, that in my comparison of these bikes, I road every bike to either my limit, or to the bikes limit
theres nothing better than having a loner bike lol. The main differences in handling that I noticed to separate the bikes apart from each other, wasnt from how the bike handled while I cruised around the dairy queen sporting my new pillow top, extra padded, cushion seat, that I had the dealer install, but whenever I pushed the bikes passed the normal comfort limit. I ride all different type of roads that have curves ranging from long sweepers to super tight hair pins. Im very familiar with the roads, so I know what Im capable to do, and it is obvious whenever the different bikes handle differently. Of the three bikes the super glide comes from the factory with the setup to get the best handling out of the bike, considering that it is the only of the 3 models that currently comes stock with mid mount controls. Unless your extremely tall , you will be able to handle the bike better with mid controls because they make the rider ride in more of an aggressive riding position, also the rider has the ability to grip the bike with their knees better. Secondly I believe that the handle bars on the handle bars on the super glide are the best bars of the three as far as functionality is concerned, even though I know the other bikes bars are so badass were going for function over form this time. Lastly the super glide weights roughly 40 pounds less than the fat bob, I know this isnt a huge factor but it is still relevant to the handling of the bike. The fat bobs wide front tire takes away from the handling of the bike, this isnt something to argue with, just look at a street bike.I think that the super glide is the best handling of the three models simply because it feels light and nimble and it will stick a tight inside line where the other bikes like to push to the outside. The fat bob is a lot more of a curve carver than the wide glide, but it still just doesnt handle as well as the ol cheapo super glide. There is a noticeable difference whenever you try to push the wide glide to her limit, look at my bike believe me I know that looking cool sitting low usually comes at the cost of performance in the twisties (not to mention destroying pipes and effing up primary covers). The wheelbase of the WG is near 4" longer than the super glides and the rake of the wide glide is greater which is a reason that these bikes arent as ideal for curves. Even though the fat bob has less rake than the super glide which should make it turn easier, it has more trail which causes the fat bob to be less agile through the curves, but on the other hand technically it should be more stable on those 6th gear pinned long straight aways that everyone seems to love. I know that the little details dont really matter that much in everyday riding, but these are some of the factors that add to make the three very similar bikes handle noticeably different. I know that there is mountains of other things that can be covered on why the bikes handle differently, but these are just some of the main reasons of why I think that that the super glide is the best handling stock dyna.
