Default Tire Rubbing on Wire

I have a continues problem of my rear tire rubbing the wires inside the rear fender, eventually breaking them. This happens every few months. Any suggestions how to prevent this?
Thanks!!

I see you have the rear lowered, what size shocks? 10.5"? I have seen lowered bikes that were so low in the rear that the guys actually ran the wires on the outside of the fender, underneath the strut cover.

NOZEM, you don't mention what machine we are working with.

Here's what I did on my 006 FXD.................

Pretty self explanatory,
I bought a length of armored icemaker?? line.
It has a neoprene core liner.

Noz, what i did was get some large shrink wrap from harbor freight, ran that over my inner fender rails, then ran the wires through that, cost me about 3 bucks total, and worked great!
after the wire is run, just used the heat gun and shrunk it all into place

just have to cut 2 small holes where the fender rail bolts come through... works great! after the last time i tore through them, even with wire guard on there, i swore NEVER again... so i did it this way... (my bike is so low and the 180 it is hard to run any wires there anyway)

I had this happen on my old Road King after I put on one of the RWD all in one lic plate delas. I was running out of time and missed one of the clips and after rubbing awhile it pulled the wires out of another. Found out when I lost my brake light and left rear t/s. When I rewired it I bought the adhesive conduit that comes on the newer bagger and ran everything through that. Never had any problems after that. Ever since then when I have rebuilt insurance bikes I have used that conduit regardless of year. Seems to be much more reliable than the clips.

MUD and JRK are on target. After I extended my turn signals to accomodate a removable sissy bar I had the same problem..

I took the back wheel lose and let it drop about 4-6".
Cut the wires.
Added shrinkwrap in all key areas.
Added and extra length of wire.
Re-soldered them
Heated the shrinkwrap.
Rehung them on the clips under the fender.

I actually added a loop of extra wire on each side (3"-4"). If I was going to all the trouble to fix it right, I gave myself some extra in case I ever needed it later, or give me working room if I ever took the turn signals loose.

No more problem...

Yep, think that's another HD inherritantly bad design. I had the same thing, about a year ago, I did the rear turn sig relocation after I bought some new bags, and when I pulled the wires out, I was floored. I just looked through my growing folder of pics and unfortunately that one I did snap photos but it was similiar to muds pics, but mine was worse. My left side had about 5 strands that were not broken, I couldn't believe the turn sig still worked. The right side wasn't much better. I basically did what mud did too, I got a load of standoffs/wire bundle clamps/ and after I installed new heatshrink over the run I put in wirebundle clamps like mud showed and as an extra measure I put a zip tie on that little bracked that's got a bend, that way it won't come off that bracket either. Of course that was after I spent half my night putting in nice environmental splices in and heat shrinking them only to find the splice was right were the wire goes in the fender, it wouldn't fit, GAWD, I was madder than a wet hen. I finally ended up running all new fresh wires from the seat back to the lights.
If I have to pull those wire runs again, it'll be a mother but I darn sure not gonna have my wires burned up by the tire..
