Soooo ... looking at the 30 tooth sprocket. 06 FXD .... no motor work. My buds cruise at 88 mph. period. thats just the way we/they roll. At what rpm am I gonna be at cruising at 88 mph? 90 if it is easier for you to check. I like to run at about 32-3500 rpm around town. just looking for some technical feedback.
Are you looking at doing a 'sprocket' change or a 'pulley change' just to be clear? Also, to figure out your rpm at speed (any speed), use the link below. It allows you to fill in your specs about tire size, gear ratio, primary drive ratio, and final drive ratio. I looked to see if they had an 06 spec and they don't so you'll have to input the info. It is very informative.
its the front pulley. common change it looks like. Just I cant afford to give up too much top end. I need to be able to cruise at 90 to stay with the pack. Would need to stay below 4K rpm with that 30 tooth pulley in order to not cream my motor over the long haul. Then there is that occasional instance in which we need to be somewhere and the pack is cruising at well over 100+. Hmmm , maybe I need a cam instead of the pulley. mmmm
Just making sure, you do know that when you change that sprocket you will no longer have a compensator, right? Don't know if that is of any concern to you.

I dont think 06's have the compensators. Not that it matters if I did change it. Kinda looking at cams now that I have more or less answered my own question on top end. But hey, if someone gets back to me and says they do 100 mph and only doing 35-3700 rpm I might do it. Right now it kinda looks like woods tw6-6 cams with a 4* advance gear.

Bud, you will have no problem doing 90. I still can still peg the speedo(2007 SB), if not to hot out. The biggest difference I noticed is around town I am not having to shift up/down as often, and she does take off a little quicker. P.S have no tach so can't tell you the rpm.
