You should consider PMing me or calling me in person, this is getting involved!

We DO want to know.

consult, have you asked Woods who they recommend,
since you are in doubt, (and rightly so),
as to the qualification of your local dealer??

Mud,

This is becoming a Saga, isn't it. LOL.
I was somewhat forced to use my dealer because I have the 7yr warranty and my dealer said they would stand behind the whole bike and motor if they did the work except they would only cover part of the price of the parts. Other dealers said they would only warranty it for 90 days.

At 10:00 this morning I will try to reach my dealer and explain the situation and find out where we are going from here. I'm just afraid he will say its another $500 labor on top of the $280 for the springs and won't cover it for the 7 yrs. Then I have to consider using a cam that won't require springs (he may suggest his SE cam which I have heard will only give a minor improvement, a lot of money for not much improvement). My dealer is basically saying if I change heads he cannot cover most of the motor under the warranty. Or maybe Ishouldjust do the big bore and forget heads and cams.

I also wrote Bob Woods and asked what cam he would suggest that would not require spings and what the impactwould be on Torque and HP. Also Mentor said in a PM to me that changing the springs may require Valve guide work, Iincluded a question to Bob in my email as to whether I would need the valve guides worked on with his cam and the springs and the big bore job.

Hey guys. I put a 95 inch stroker kit in my wide glide(evo) its the ultima kit and this think is badddddd. If you want some really good torque go with the stroker cranks. I have a buddy who has a redhorse chopper with the 124 s&s motor in it and he barely beats me, and im talking like 2 ft in all gears...Just my two cents

I spoke to my dealer, he said he meant to order the TW6-6 cams cams which are bolt on (not the TW6-6H which are bolt on if you get the SE Head) and don't need springs or anything else. So I guess that is what we are doing now.

Is a 95inch Stroker kit the same thing as the 95" big bore kit? Or is that changing the stroke instead of the bore? Which gives more bottom end torque, more stroke or more bore?

Thanks
JD

The stroke is what gives it more torque. I also bored it and ported, decked and polished the heads. Total work was about 2700....but well worth it.

Sounds as if you are married to that 7 year warranty JD.
Now your spouse's mouthpiece is throwin their weight around
and telling you what to do with your own machine.

Myownself, the warranty will never stand in my way.
I change IT as I please. IT breaks. I pay.I fix IT.

As to the 95inch Stroker kit, hotrod is speaking of the Evolution motor,
which starts out at 80 cubic inchs.

Htrod02,

It sounds like you went all the way, cool. No wonder it's so strong. And that sounds like a great price.

Mine is $3100 and all I got was the big bore kit and cams and se tuner and Dyno.
They said stroking it would be another couple thousands and to polish and port would be a 1,000. I think they were up to about 5K for what you got done.

Yeah I am married to the warranty and I don't want a divorce, LOL.

I paid about 1,850 for the warranty.

I think I will be happy with my bike when the bore and cam are done, lets hope so, I'll let you know.
