Default steering neck torque

08 FXDF, anybody have a shop manual around? I cant find mine right now and I want to chk mine. I heard someplace the 08 was different than older models but I'm not sure.

Are you checking it because you are experiencing "the clunk?" If so, torquing the stem nut will not correct it. You need to adjust star adjustment nut under the top tree and do the fall-away test.

If you are not experiencing the clunk, I need to mind my own business.

yeah check fall away and err to the side of tight then torque the nut good and tight. It is funny all the talk of the wideglide clunk from my older 41mm front end. Never experienced it once as I tightened to the point of as tight as possible without bind, and then torqued the nut down good. I never did a formal fall away test. i tightened it to the point of resistance then backed away the nut till the resistance was gone. Probably just turned it back 1/4 turn or so.
