Default Cheap Mans Streetglide Project on a Streetbob (Step2 R/Fender)

(Step 2 street glide R/Fender) Cheapmans streetglide project for a streetbob.

well i started to install the 2009 street glide rear fender to my streetbob. some people prefer a shorter rear fender but i like the look of a longer fender. i have seen it done on a couple forum members bikes and loved the look so i decide to add this into my mods as while to this project.

First pic is a cheap hand bent alum. rod i bent so i could get the correct height of the stock fender, so i can get the correct height of the new fender so the seat will mount properly. i clamped a square tube onto my swingarm so i can make sure the rear lip of the fender is parallel to the swingarm. then i will mount the seat and align it correctly to one another, then i will drill the mounting holes to the struts and the seat mounting holes. after i finish aligning the fender properly and drill the mounting holes. i will take it off and i will have to weld a extention on the front of the fender using the front of my stock street bob fender, because the streetglide fender is shorter in the front. i will post the completed project when i finished just wanted to post what i have now. enjoy jackyl

then when iam done with (step 2) i can start (step 3) Hardbags
Stage 1

Stage 2
Well i finished mounting the fender and cutting the front off both fenders and tack welding them together, great spot where they had to be cut and where they fit together, because if you have any flaws it mostly is hidden, so dont be scared if you want to do this mod.. everything thing fit pretty good with only a little hammer forming in a couple spots. now i just have to tig weld it together, plug some holes and sand it down and blend the wheel radius in a little bit in a couple spots, then give it to my buddy for the body work and the finishing touch for when iam ready for paint. i wish i could of lowered it about 1 to 1.5 inch but cant because of the seat mounting postion. jackyl

Stage 3 HARDBAGS

awesome.

i, too, am eventually going to buck the trend and go longer with my rear fender rather than shorter.

thinking about a ness taildragger on the rear, but i have to say jackyl, now you have me thinking twice.

(this won't happen for quite a while so i'm sure i'll be thinking three, four, five times ahah)

great work though looks great, keep us posted

Mine is in the local shop to have the front of the stock fender added to the Road King rear. Since I'm not a welder it's costin' me $150. I'm thinking to go full dress. Put the matching Fat Boy wheel on the front with a Classic fender. But I haven't seen any big hard bags that I like.

Looks awesome. It reminds me of the old hinged, Shovel fenders which looked very similar. I prefer the longer fender over the bobbed fender. When you get done, if you can publish a "how to" with photos, I think there will be a lot of takers.

I like the look, but I think the fender needs to be closer to the rear tire than it is in the photo. In other words, it doesn't appear to follow the radius of the tire. But, you are the one looking at it in person. I'm just looking at the clearance between the rear of the fender and the tire. Looky good man.

Looks good can't wait to see the finished product. Know it will be quality.

Are you still going with this type of paint?
