Anybody have any advice on getting the numbness outta my gas hand? Guess the mini apes on the bob are wrong for me. I have laid em back some and will lay em back some more tonight and see if that helps. But at some point, the apes don't look right too far back. Is it possible to get something like those pull back risers on the Softail? I like the look of the apes but geeesh I will only go so far for fashion. Why is it only my throttle hand? the left hand is fine and never goes numb. Thanks-jigman
jigman,
I know your pain. I just ordered a throttle control or cruise control from this company http://www.cruise-mate.com/default.htm
not sure how it will work, but anything right now would be great as long as I can get my hand off the throttle and flex it a bit.
There is also this company http://www.brakeawayproducts.com/appguide-6CP01.html
now they are more expensive but I really like it and I have seen it in person. Very nice equipment but for now I went with the first one. There is also a device that just wraps around the throttle grip that is like a large resting pad that you can rest the palm of your hand on to keep the throttle engaged and flex your hand but I want to be able to take my hand off.
Hope this helps you out.
If anyone has ever had one of these, did you or do you like them?
What about ISO type grips and a bar snake dampner? Worked for me on 2 bikes. Vibration made my throttle hand thumb go numb on my last 2 ridged (non rubber mounted, non counterbalanced) engine HD's with 14 inch apes and these items cured me. I think the way the throttle is gripped transfers vibration to the hand in a different way then the non throttle grip and limiting some vibration to the bar worked for me.
Sounds like you like the apes, give this a try...hope this helps.
Or just semi-tighten that **** under the throttle grip. It'll hold your throttle open like a cruise control and allow your hand some time off the grip. Be careful though, I ONLY use mine on the open road where I can see the cagers before they see me!!!!
