Default Advice about 07 Purchase

when i read about the bigger motor this year, i decided to take the plunge and buy an 07 street bob, it actaully looks a lot like my current dyna with the spoke and what not, but the twin cam and the 6 speed are super attractive for the long road trips i want to do. here is the dilemma. i have never bought a nerw harley so i don't know how it works. I could use some help or advice on a few areas.

1. should i fill out the credit app online and walk into a dealer and have them order me a bike. or should i just go into the dealer and mess with them. i kind of would prefer to have the crediat app pre approved and get moving on it before i haggle with a dealer.

2. how long should i expect to wait?

3. should i pay more than msrp?

4. if they have to order me a bike, will i just leave a down payment with them or what?

5. whats this stage one stuffm how much does it cost, and does the dealer do it?

6. my local dealership has a deal where if you buy any 06 model in stock they will give you your first three payments free. also i imagine i won't be paying more than msrp, maybe i can negotiate a little with them on slip-ons or something. anyway they had an 06 bob in ther saturday. i am torn, is the 96 a big enough improvment that i should wait it out and spend maybe a grand more, or is the 88 just fine. when they went from the evo to the 88 it was like a 12% power gain and a smoother, quiter, motor. i have an evo now, and i think its fine, but i would like the additional grunt of the twin cam. the 6 speed tranny is more in line with what i am after so i can cruise at 75-80.

i don't know, im confused! please help

thanks a lot guys

I never bought a new bike only used so can't help you deal with the dealer.
As far as getting a new 07 this may help make up your mind.

Stage1 is a performance kit. Better breathing, more power.

And get your price haggled before discussing financing. You will have to put $$ down - prolly $1k will do it.

Do not pay more than MSRP, no reason to.

And depending on what they've ordered, you could have your ride in no time at all.

Get a 07 man! I bought a 06 new and it was pretty easy. You may not be able to wheel and deal on the new 07s though. Go to a dealership NOW and put one on hold before they go on backorder, you probably won't wait to long. You will need to put a down payment ($1,000 min) to hold.

1) Don't pay more than MSRP! Plenty of dealers around the country will sell to you at MRSP. Get the 06 only if the price is below MRSP enough to warrant an engine upgrade to 95". If not go for the new 07's. Stage one price will vary depending on pipes, air cleaner and fuel map method selected (ie SERT, PC III, factory download) expect from $500 up to $1000 for complete stage 1. The biggest thing also is the colors right now may not be the color you want for an 07. The new colors and black tend to be the only colors coming our right now. So you may have to wait after the first of the year to get the color you want. I hope this helps. Also know what type of finance rate you can get in your area. Some dealerships will try and get higher than the going rate even if you have great credit. Also know what the MSRP price is. Had dealer keep telling they were going to sell me the bike at list (Which was their list!) not the actual MSRP. I finally won out but it took 2 hours and me leaving once.

I hope this helps.

a little research has revealed that the new street bob is about msrp 500 bucks more than the 06. i called my local dealers on the 06 prices avaialebl and one guy said "on the phone? MSRP... but if you come in we'll make you a deal." they have two 06's left in denim. the other dealer said MSRP but they give you a reimbursment check for the value of 3 payments (a little under 900 with 1000 down) and free maintainence up to 15,000 miles... they have one left in vivd black. anyway, how do they figure msrp? looking at the Harley home site the 06 bob in denim black is msrp of 13480. but these guys were saying like 13900 and 14200 on th '06. i assume the shipping/dealer fee is not 700 bucks, i thought it was on the order of 285. also, do all these bikes have the security system now? that would acount for another 300+, even though i don't want to pay for that either. they made me several smoking offer on softails but they held firm on the bob, guess they think they will still sell at msrp. so anyway, i might be able to save a grand max on an 06 over an 07. seems like i should just wait for the 07 if i buy one at all. with sales tax, and proabaly some paperwork fee, even with a discount im still looking at fnancing almost 14000. i owe 4500 on my bike... makes it tough to justify. that and i need to sell my bike too...

this is making me crazy.
