Default Thumping Dyna

My son is buying a new 2010 Dyna Super Glide next month and wants to know the best Mufflers to give it that Old School Carburated Sound.

Thump when sitting still and Scream when it goes down the road. Any suggestions?

I had a set of Screamin Eagle slip ons with Cycle Shack baffles on my 09 Dyna. Sounded real good like the old Harley's. I have them for sale. Only about 200 miles on them. I took them off for Hooker Troublemakers.

I have 2" rush with a stage 1 a/c. I like the sound of that combination. Remember an a/c change can effect how the pipes sound later.

My dad has a 90 FXR that he's had new. 80" carbed. He came to visit last may and heard and rode my bike for the first time. He was way impressed and loved the way my bike sounded. It's going to be tough getting an FI to lope like a carbed bike. My dads FXR sounds sick, but lower idle and a cam makes a big difference (how he's set up), but like I said he was like damn that's beefy when he heard my bike.

I only have the V&H slips on with the standard baffles. I happy with them!!

He's not really going to get the sound he wants with just exhaust, might be close enough for him though. To get where he wants to be a set of cams will need to go in.

+1 on the V&H slip ons, that is what I bought first and they really sounded good. They were about $265 at the time ('06).

thump is heard from a lower idle speed, or cams. As far as exhaust goes, he should pick the one he likes the best, 2-2 tend to look good, short exhaust costs a little torque for the most part, 2-1 provide better performance yet give the bike a smoother deeper sound depending on the pipes used.

I've a 2009 Superglide. Gotten some nice compliments on the stock pipes sound. He might want to ride a bit and see what he thinks. I've got plans to put some Vance and Hines on mine though. Always looking for a little "more".

Chasing down the carbed sound on the twin cams is an expensive endeavor.

He'll probably need Pipes, Intake, Cams, and a tuner...

Really, just have him ride the stock pipes for a little bit and listen around for what he likes on other bikes.
