A long ride? I did 430 miles in 12 hours this past Saturday. I couldn't think of a better ride than taking a new bike home. That is the exciting part. Plus you get to know your ride instead of wondering while staring at it in the garrage. My two cents anyway

Lots of stops? We often go to NC to ride the mountain road and do the 425-450 miles in about 8 or 8-1/2 both directions. And no, we don't take the superslab.
Congrates on the new Lowrider. Now my thining would be to have the dealership deliver it to you in their nice inclosed trailer. I am not sure where you are at in Indiana but as I recall you are getting some pretty nausty cold weather up there.
A 1 1/2 hour ride in 15-20 degree weather and the chance of snow would not be my ideal 1st ride on a new bike
I am getting cold just thinking about it...Or then again it is only 12 degrees here.
Congrats on the new bike - can't wait to see pics when it comes home.
I came close to getting the LR in January when I got mine. I know you'll love it. Hope the weather cooperates and let's you take ride real soon.
My other half rides an 08 fatboy. I will definitely ride it around a bit before riding it home, especially because it's a long ride.... 1.5 hours. I may even have them deliver it for me as part of the deal...
If the weather's nice, ride it home. Sounds like you ahve enough experience with your sporty. Besides, it will give time to get acquainted with your new "steed".
Can't begin to tell you how good I felt when I brought mine home from the dealer 4 years ago. I'm still in the clouds when I take her out.
From my own personal experience, being a gal with a 2007 Low Rider, you're going to LOVE this bike. Plenty of giddy up and go, oomph to keep up with the big boys and sometimes......even kick their butt. Without mods, you'll average around 46mpg......
Be warned it will put out a lot of heat on that right side, especially if it's got MID Controls. That's because they have it leaned out so much. I had the dealer richen up my fuel mixture. Dropped mpg to about 43.....but it runs cooler.
Post Photos when you can........& have a blast with your new baby.

I so wanted mid controls because my legs are so damn short that it's more comfortable for me.
Actually, what makes me laugh is my S/O is now getting a little worried that I will kick his *** out on the road! I have more riding experience than him, so I always take the lead... but he had had trouble not passing me on accident because his bike is so much more powerful.
AND, he's getting the itch for new pipes as mine has the V & H big radius... so doesn't want his woman's ride to out-do his.... too funny.
So, I will remember your fuel mixture thing... is that something you have to do every time you get gas or what... forgive my ignorance on this one.

Not at all. He means the air/fuel mixture controlled by the bike's ECU (computer). It's not something you can adjust on your own without a tuning device of some sort and even then it's typically set it and forget it.
If your bike has the pipes, does it have a stage 1 air cleaner? And if it does, it should have or may already have a tuner or at least a stage 1 download to it to adjust the mixture. If it doesn't have either, I strongly recommend both. Bike will run better, stronger, and cooler.
