Guys (or gals) i bought a 2002 Dyna Wide Glide and while in runs fantastic I am beginning to consider options to give it some extra power.
I have added Vance and Hines long shots. Now I am looking to Dyno tune the CV Carb and add a cone/spike type filter.
I am curious as to what the preferences are for these and why. Also what are your thoughts on the delphi spike air cleaner.
thanks

You won't be banging your knee on it like that damn'd football. I doubt you'll see a performance increase with it alone. Love my HD HB. Can't speak specifically regarding delphi unit.
if your riding a wideglide with saddlebags and a windshield, I would stick to a round air cleaner for visual purposes. I would get a Doherty IMHO over any other. I have an RSD venturi on my bike I got for a song, so I would never spend 400+ on an air cleaner myself even though mine lists for that much. The doherty is the best air cleaner you can get for the money, the S&S kit is also a great system with a cool cover.

hmm, You are making sense with the look factor. While I didnt start out with the intention of a retro looking bike, the additions I have added have certainly taken it in that direction. The Wind shield is quick release and sometimes I ride without it but not often. The thought of mixing looks had not occurred to me until you brought it up. I will look into both the filters you mentioned. They seem a bit smaller than the football shaped one that is stock and maybe will not be as uncomfortable on the knee (As one poster has mentioned) I am glad I mentioned this to you guys before I went out and bought something.
Also I like the look of the Baron big air cleaners. The shape seems to get out of the way and it offers a pretty good power boost. Price is a bit much though. I am hoping to find something a bit cheaper that will fit my bike's look.

I came close to going with a Baron. I ran it up the flagpole here to see if anyone would salute it, but mostly got negatives. Several thought it looked "too asian". I don't know; the shape seemed to compliment the V-motor look. Stumbled into an ebay deal on the HB about the same time I read good reviews on knee clearance with it. I liked the look, but couldn't ju$tify retail; at $200 on ebay, my inner CAS* took over.
imo, something small and round would fit your bike just perfectly.
rounder seems to love the doherty power pacc, you could go with that and cut the center out of your current football cover and use that as a plate over the end of the filter, pretty much keeping the look you have while upgrading the filter greatly.
