I started with the passenger pillion and sissy bar. But I found an excellent price on a Sundowner seat and never looked back. No complaints from the back seat rider.

Go for it, we ride 2 up all the time on the street bob, absolutely no problems at all. Had to buy the passenger peg mounts ($65), passenger pegs (dealer had a bunch of brand new take off pegs from bikes they dressed up on the showroom, gave them to me for free - worth asking about), and seat (hd badlander 2 up leather). I heard a lot of negative stuff about this seat but it works fine for us, longest rides we go on are only about 300 miles a day though. I figure if I ever wanted to go for a longer ride I'd just pick up a fatter seat.

I keep an open fender and pack a suction cup pillion pad when i know ill have a passenger.

i have given countless fender rides, with the right persuasion no girl can decline. (have her use her shirt to sit on, don't want any scratches)

PS: i love the comment about DIRECTION, ... steer ... HA

i liked the street bob alot, but i had to have the shiny stuff so i got the FXDC, put on a back rest for when my wife wanted to leave hers at home or when our son(14 yrs old) wanted to ride. both of them complained about the stock seat. oddly neither complained about vibration from the foot pegs even after i brought it up. this is how it looked.

well i got a mustang vintage solo for Christmas and have plans to get a pillion later, much later. anyway here it is now which is what i really wanted it to look like when i bought it. aside from the saddlebags. i dont like the looks of them but they are to useful to get rid of.

i guess what i have learned and from reading what others here have gone through is: get what appeals to you! if your wife really wants to ride with you, it wont matter if its a SB or a heritage. you will still have to beat her off with a stick. i think most here can vouch that their wives dont ride more than a couple times a year.

you wife can end up in a couple of categories, first she rides with you then never rides again(don't like it) or she takes a ride and is hooked and now you have a riding partner. Then again she could just ride once or twice a year with you. So now you have a situation because this gets expensive. IMHO rent a dyna equipped for 2up and take her out on it. You need to find out if she will become hooked or hate it. Then from that point, you can make a better decision on the right bike for you. I wish I had done this myself, my wife said she was "never going to ride" and she became hooked after the first ride. Had I rented, she would have become hooked and she would have allow me to spend much more on getting the right bike.

Two up on a Street Bob no problem. Now if she does not want to feel any vibration then that i where the air shocks on the touring bikes come into play. A Road King is where I'd go if I wanted the air sus. but not the price of a Street Glide or Ultra.

Unless you have a large wife, she should be fine on the back of a SB. My girl has long legs so I had to get some goofy-a$$ lookin peg extensions for her. Moves the passenger pegs further out...like 3.5-4". I also added a mustang p-pad. She's quite comfy on it.

You,ll be fine two-up on a Bob. You can pick up the Harley pad, sissy bar and foot pegs on ebay and you are good to go.
