Default Another seat question (sorry)... Corbin vs. Mustang

Hello All! I am a newb, both to this site and to HD! Bought my '05 Super Glide in Feb, and waited two long months for it to get nice enough to pick it up in Apr. It's questionable whether its nice enough, since the rain just wont seem to stop up here in the New England area, but I have managed to get 1300 miles logged and I HATE THAT SEAT![:@]

So, from the other posts I have read, it seams that the Corbin and Mustang are the most popular, and I can't seem to find negative comment's on either, except for maybe needing a break in period, until they are really comfortable. My questions are:

Why pay twice as much for the Corbin? Is it that much better than the Mustang?

And as you can see from my picture of my bike (hope the attachment works! ), I opted to get the hard saddle bags. Does anyone know whether any of the Corbin or Mustang seats will be a problem, fit wise, with the hard saddle bags? I know my wife would like me to go as wide as possible on the passenger seat!

Thanks in advance!

The Corbin has real leather in the seat, and in my opinion, is more durable. I had a Mustang on a 95 Roadking, and put on a Corbin. I sold the Mustang to a friend. I saw his bike with the Mustang about a week ago, and the seat is cracked with padding showing through in several places. The Corbin seat on the Roadking still looks nearly new, except for a few wrinkles in the leather, and a couple of places where the dye has worn off. No cracks or breaks at all. I also think the Corbin is more comfortable, and looks better if you want a clean, low profile look.

Just an opinion.

By the way, nice looking bike. The Mustang or the Corbin will fit with the hard bags no problem.

Regards,

Bill

Hey red. Corbin and Mustang take different approaches to comfort. Mustang uses padding more while Corbin uses form more. Corbin seems to be the most popular among hardcore riders even though there seems to be a break-in period on those. Most people you ask will say Corbins are well worth the price because of comfort and durability. You might also consider La Pera. Good luck.

I have heard so much bad about Corbin's customer service when I was on Vtwinforum.com
Way to many bad stories from people to just be a flook.

What about their customer service was bad? Was it about the product itself or the treatment? Just curious.

I think the most of what people were saying was about how the service was on the phone, never answering the phone, putting you on hold for long periods of time"Let me call you right back" and never do.
Just alot of bad sh it, in my opinion, I would never take a chance with them when I was going to shell out 6/700 bucks if not more for a seat.
But I'm sure their are tons of other peeps that will say just the apposit.

I think Mac was very happy with his seat from them.

With all those miles you got under your belt, what kind of seat do you have? That's a real test for quality and comfort if there ever was one.

I have dealt with Corbin on several occasions, and have never experienced what you mention. When I got the new EG I called them about options, fitment, etc. and got quick, correct answers with an offer to ship and if I wasn't completely happy, just return.

I have dealt with Corbin at rallys, and find the service to be the same. They will put every seat they have on your bike to try, and if you don't find what you want, they do custom order work.

All my experiences have been positive, and we have had 4 total so far.

Bill
