Had my 1000 mile service done recently. I got the bike back clean and all the fluid levels were correct. Still have that clunk in the head when I go over a rough bump. The bike runs good, but once in awhile I get a feeling the clutch may be slipping a little. Don't normally notice anything, but sometimes if I stop and pull off with more than normal power I get this feeling like the back wheel was in something slick for an instant. There's correct gap in the control cable handle, so it might be behind the cover. Could be they adjusted it hot. It doesn't do it all the time. If I feel it anymore, I'm gonna have to take it back in. The front end felt a little squirly when I got it back so I checked my tire pressures. The front had 40 and the rear had 30. I corrected that and the bike feels better now.
It seams that so typical.....got mine back a couple of
days ago from a 1000 mile service. Running lights were
out, couple of loose bolts, dirty. I gave it to them clean!
Went through the whole bike myself and rechecked
everything.
Screw them.....will do the rest of the service stuff myself.
I've noticed that feeling on my bike every once in a while. I thought it was the rebound effect from the drive belt when you do a hard take off. I figured the belt was curling just a bit on the under side and then catching back up. Don't have any real basis for this,so I could be dead wrong.
Some times It feels like my Clutch is slipping also. I adjusted mine per the service manual. It is much better now. I wonder if the reduced effort means less spring force on the clutch plates ?
I had the same issue and I adjusted the clutch myself, so I know it was adjusted right. Still felt like it was slipping! I put the Revtec high performance primary fluid in my primary and now it grabs perfectly. I also put it in my buddies road king and he came back from test riding it with a smile from ear to ear. His response was "it's like a whole different bike, unf@ckin' believable". The stuff harley puts in there is junk!

I installed the reduced effort clutch kit in my '03 FXDL and the new spring you install is definately weaker than the one I removed. it doesn't slip yet and it really is "reduced" effort.
Look up clutch adjustment in the tech threads and adjust it yourself. Takes 15 minutes. I did mine right before the 1000 so they wouldn't screw with it. Plus try some different oil in the primary and you may get a different feel. Some guys like the old HD primary lube. Me I like the redline MTL....best feel yet. MY $.02.
