Have you tried stiffening the rear shocks to get less squat launching??
When I went to the track I had my Ohlin gas shocks on. While they are very adjustable, unfortunately mine are too long. Mine are like 13.25 long, sold for sportsters, I think. \
So for now I have put on my stock Harley shocks and will try them first on setting 4, with 5 being the highest.
I need to lower the center of gravity to get a good launch. I will try shorter shocks or struts if necessary. I will also probably move the fork tubes up in the tripple trees to help lower the center of gravity.........
UPDATE: went to track last night and ran a best of 12.45 @106 mph. Getting a sixty foot of 1.904 really sets up a good quarter mile. My mods really helped my launch but there is a lot to learn and seat time is the only answer. We had a little bracket race and a good time.
"Thanks to everyone who came out to Firebird last nite for our first race of the 2010 season. We had an 11 bike field including some new friends with sport bikes. After several free runs we got down to some bracket racing. The staff at Firebird was nice enough to set the ladder for us after our first qualifying run. Jason Sarratt on his sporty got the by run with a good reaction time. After 3 rounds of racing it was Jason on his sporty against Chris Koch on his bagger in the final. Jason went red and gave the win to Chris the win. It would have been tough to beat Chris who ran a 13.10 on a 13.10 dial in. Nice job Chris."
