It all started with putting forward controls on and led to an IPB change. Last night i was reassembling my primary. I got the chain tensioner, cluthch comp sproket etc on, torqued and i adjusted the clutch to what the book said following it direction by direction. I pulled the clutch handle in and saw the plates move, but the wheel was still stuck in place. Its almost like the clutch wasnt completely disengaging. I tried screwing it in farther and i could get it so it would disengage, but it still seemed like it took too much effort to spin the wheel, and when i let the clutch lever out it would slip some. None of this seems normal. Any suggestions?
I would pull it back apart and double check that you assembled it in the right order. It's too easy to miss a step the first time into job (assuming this was your first dance with a primary). You should be able to remove the operating parts through the derby cover to verify it's all in the right order.
you working on the clutch at all with the cable still having tension on it. To adjust the clutch pack, you gotta turn the cable adjustor all the way in to release the tension first. Then you loosen the adjustor nut, turn out a bit then turn back in till resistance is felt. Back off 1/2-full turn and re tighten.
that is what i am thinking... did you first loosen your adjuster on the cable.... i would pull it back off and start over, it can really only go together one way
True...I looked through my manual and there isn't much to get out of place. Amazing how quickly I can forget what things look like, wasn't that long ago I had mine apart!
Quote...... I pulled the clutch handle in and saw the plates move, but the wheel was still stuck in place.
If the motor is not running, the bike is in gear, and the clutch is pulled in(assuming correct adjustment) the wheel will still be hard to turn(at best)
by all means recheck adjustment
I followed the clutch adjustment in the manual step by step, adding the freeplay to the cable, lightly seating the screw and backing off 1/2-1 turn ive done that several times. the wheel wouldnt move at all when the clutch was adjusted. A friend of mine said i might have lost one of those ramp or ***** on the other side? Not quite sure what hes talking about
