One thing about it... if you are the type who hates to clean your bike, then this is probably not for you. The forks will oxidize after they are polished. It isn't bad, but if you let it go they will look like crap. Doesn't bother me because I clean the bike about once a week anyway and it only takes a few seconds to hit the sliders with some polish and keep them looking like chrome. I would do that even if they weren't polished. But just a warning...
well, I went out and hit one of em, the store only had up to 1500 wet.....so I tried anyways, looks like I either need to put in more time of buy some 2000 grit sandpaper. I think just more time, didn't have the motivation to spend all the time tonight. but I'm into it now, so I'll finish it up tomorrow.
TOMMAY
That looks awesome. That is going on the list of "to do's" as soon as summer is over. When ya only get to ride 6 mos. a year ya don't want to waste any time. Hell maybe I'll do it next time it's raining. Just roll the bike into the driveway and throw on the swim suit...Only problem is the rain may water down the forementioned BEER.
Is there any maintenance needed after the job is done? With chrome, you really dont have to do much to keep it looking good. Will this be basically the same, or will it start to pit and oxidize, ending up like it was before investing a day of hard work?
Tommay,
Great job, very intuitive.... Let me guess when you were finished you sat back, had a BEER, and admired your great work. It really looks good I gotta give you a 10 for that. BTW That chair you got in the picture........man I would like a set of 4 and an umbrella to match.. No I'm just giving you sh$t, although I hope you don't wear shorts to match the chairs then I would have to wonder what kind of beer you're drinkin down there in Alabama.

Well,YEAH,I'd say there'd be some maintenance involved. If you don't do anything it will be just like you said. It'll look just as bad as it looked when it came from the factory. Otherwise if you spent a few minutes with some semi-chrome or Mothers polish every few weeks then it will look as good as the effort you put into it. I enjoy the maintenance, some people don't,that's why they make stock bikes and there's nothing wrong with that.
But if you want your bike to be something special it takes a lot of work unless you can afford to hire someone to make it special for you.
Yea Tommay, do you happen to have the part number for that chair? I was thinking about what to get the wife for her birthday, since she does like to sit out in the yard, chain smoking camel non filters and drinking that Ol' Milwakee beer. lmao.....
