I have a 2010 FXDC and I'd like to add the forward controls. I like the idea of leaving the old shifter lever in the primary because I have heard that the forwards on the Dyna are farther forward than those I had on my 2004 Sportster, and I want the option to go back if I don't care for them. I also don't like the idea of removing the entire primary or the idea of sawing off the old shaft.
So I have searched the various posts on this topic. I like the setup that FXD2003Rider used and I looked at the picture and the installation diagram for the floorboards, and I have a couple questions.
Is part 11A, "Retainer bracket, shift lever for 2001 and later models, PN 3463901" appropriate for the 2010 model year? Based on the picture and looking at my bike, it seems that the retainer bracket I need would have to be longer, and wider than the one pictured. Will this part work, or is there a new part number?
Also, will the chrome cap for the old shaft (part 12 in the diagram) work on this model?
Also, in a different thread, WS6 recommended a different shifter rod. Any thoughts on whether this applies to the 2010?
Thanks for any assistance.
Did you get it to fit?
would be great to know if I can use it on my 2010 FXDB
I used a zip tie. Doesn't look as fancy as FXD2003Rider's bracket....but it's essentially the same thing. My dad and I might cut the nub of old shifter lever....but how can you then pull it through to get rid of it completely?

Actually, we haven't tried it yet. I have the parts, but the indy has been backed up with work as the weather has turned here and everyone wants work done.
But in the meantime, I called Kuryakin again and they agreed to sell me just the rubber coated retaining clip that comes with their forward kit for a few dollars, so I hope to use that with the chrome spline cap to secure the lever behind the primary.
I suppose I should just install it myself, but he tells me he can get to it this week and I am busy at work. I'd rather be riding when I have free time.
