We have all done it at one time or another. Mine was in front of the local Indy. I pulled in.....5 guys standing around outside admiring his customs....pulled my helmet off.....stuffed my gloves in the helmet and hung it on the handlebars and proceeded to throw my leg over the rear fender without putting the kickstand down. Needless to say there was quite a bit of chuckling going on as I struggled to hold it up with one hand. At least they helped me pick it back up.

What do you mean "locks in place?"

I guess I should look at it to see how it is really made but when there is weight on the kickstand it locks into maybe some notches or something? It basically wont let the kickstand come back up if there is weight on it. It works awesome. I can even park nose down hill in my driveway and she stays put. I always push on it to test it too if I leave it parked that way and it holds awesome. (09 Fat Bob)
